Aftercare guide
Last updated · 18 May 2026
A little care after a treatment goes a long way. The notes below are general guidance — your clinician will give you specific aftercare instructions tailored to your procedure.
Please read
This page is general information, not personalised medical advice. The written instructions you receive at the clinic on the day of your treatment take precedence. If anything feels unusual — sudden pain, severe swelling, a change in skin colour, or vision changes — contact us immediately. See When to call us below.
01 General — first 24 hours
For any injectable treatment
Do
- Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first night
- Drink water and eat normally
- Apply a clean, cool compress for short periods if you feel any swelling (10 minutes on / 10 off)
- Use gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and a soft moisturiser
Avoid
- Touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated area
- Make-up directly on injection points
- Strenuous exercise, saunas, hot showers and alcohol
- Lying flat or face-down for the first few hours
02 Anti-Wrinkle, Muscle Reduction & Skin Botox
Botulinum toxin · Xeomin® / Botox®
- Stay upright and avoid lying flat for 4 hours after treatment.
- Do not rub, massage or apply pressure to the treated muscles for 24 hours.
- Avoid intense exercise, hot yoga, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours.
- Light expression movements (smiling, frowning) in the first few hours can help the product settle.
- The effect develops gradually over 3–14 days — judge your result at the 2-week review.
03 Hyperhidrosis treatment
Botulinum toxin for excessive sweating
- Keep the treated area clean and dry for 24 hours.
- Avoid antiperspirants, deodorants, or hair removal on the treated area for 24 hours.
- Expect sweat reduction to begin within 3–7 days and reach full effect at 2 weeks.
- Effect typically lasts 4–6 months; we will plan your next session at your review.
04 Dermal Filler
Hyaluronic-acid filler · lip, cheek, chin, jawline, tear-trough, etc.
- Some swelling and tenderness is normal for 24–72 hours. Lip filler often peaks at day 2.
- Use a cool compress in short intervals for the first day.
- Avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, saunas and dental work for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid pressing or sleeping on the treated side for the first night.
- Do not have any energy-based facial treatment (laser, RF, ultrasound) for 2 weeks.
- If you notice severe pain, blanching, or skin colour change — contact us immediately.
05 Sculptra® · Collagen biostimulator
- Massage the treated area firmly for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days (the "5-5-5 rule"). This helps even product distribution.
- Avoid intense exercise, saunas and steam for 24 hours.
- Mild redness or small bumps may appear briefly — these typically settle on their own.
- Sculptra works gradually over weeks. You will need 2–3 sessions, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, for full effect.
06 Skin Boosters
- Tiny raised bumps at injection points are normal and usually settle within 12–24 hours.
- Avoid make-up directly on the treated area for 12 hours.
- Hydrate well and apply a gentle moisturiser.
- A short course (typically 2–3 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart) gives the best result.
07 Belkyra® · Double-chin reduction
- Swelling can be significant in the first 1–2 days and may persist for up to a week — this is part of the treatment working.
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated for the first 2 nights.
- Avoid intense exercise, alcohol and saunas for 48 hours.
- Use a cool compress in short intervals to help comfort.
- Most patients need 2–4 sessions, spaced 6 weeks apart.
08 Aqualyx · Face fat-dissolving
- Swelling and tenderness for 3–5 days is expected; firmness in the treated area can last several weeks.
- Apply a cool compress in short intervals on the first day.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and hot environments for 48 hours.
- Wear a supportive compression garment if your clinician advises.
- Course typically 2–4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
09 Alidya · Body cellulite
- Mild bruising and tenderness in the treated area is normal for a few days.
- Drink plenty of water — it supports the body in clearing the treatment.
- Light walking is encouraged; avoid intense exercise for 24 hours.
- Body brushing and gentle massage of the treated area (from day 2) can help texture.
- Full course is usually 7 sessions, spaced 1–2 weeks apart.
10 IV Therapy · Link Medspa
Radiance · Immunity · Reboot · Energise drips
- Eat a light meal before your drip and stay well-hydrated throughout the day.
- A small bruise at the cannula site is normal — keep a plaster on for an hour.
- You can return to normal activity straight after the drip. Avoid heavy alcohol on the day.
- If you have a course of drips, your clinician will recommend an interval suited to your goal.
